I have an older sony reader and the sony help was kinda annoying a few months back when my reader software authorized itself multiple times.  I contacted them through chat and they kept asking the same question over and over.

I searched online for your problem and I found that a hard reset should fix your problem.  This is what it says on the sony website.  Hopefully it wil help.

Hard Reset

WARNING: There is a risk of data loss. After doing a hard reset, you will need to restore your content. Your purchased books can be restored from your account at the Reader store.

IMPORTANT:

  • You should only do a hard reset if necessary and as the last step for troubleshooting.
  • After you do a hard reset, your Reader device will need to be authorized again from your Reader store account.
  • How to perform a hard reset.
    Solution

Follow these steps to perform a hard reset on the Reader™ Wi-Fi® device:

    1. With the Reader Wi-Fi on, on the bottom of the device, press and hold the power button until the Device Shutdown screen appears.
    2. In the Device Shutdown screen, press Yes .
    3. Press the power button again to turn the Reader Wi-Fi back on.
    4. While the screen displays opening book..... , simultaneously press and hold down the Page Turn (Next) and Back buttons.

    5. Allow the Home screen to fully load (Loading... should no longer flash in the top left corner of your screen) and then

do the following button sequence while still holding down the Page Turn (Next) and Back buttons:
    6. Release Press Release the Back button only and then Release the Page Turn (Next) button.
    7. In the Would you like to execute Factory Initialize screen, press Yes .
    8. Press the power button again to turn on the Reader Wi-Fi. The Reader Wi-Fi will be set to factory settings.

Barb, don't forget that the "Back" button on the T1 is the U-turn button.

I fought with that myself, until I realized I was pusing the 'page back' and not the "BACK back" button. smiley

I did use the U-Turn but still wont hard reset.   WiFi & buying sony ebooks is useless to me.  Eveything has to be side loaded.  Why would she trade then keep this on her account?  I cant even add gift cards...afraid she going to buy things on my dime!

People just forget that the machine is tied into an account of some kind. I thnk its easy to do when you've lost interest in something.

At least you should be able to call Sony and see how they can help you on Tuesday.

There's not a little reset button on the bottom of the reader?  You have to poke the tip of a skinny pen in there to get to it.  My PRS600 has one and so did my Pocket Edition.  It says Reset right next to the hole.  To do a hard reset on mine, I push the tip of a pen or paperclip in the little hole and slide over and hold over the on/off button.

The paper-clip reset is a soft-Reset. She needs a hard reset, which will wipe everything out and reset to factory specs.

Anyway Came home & I reg with Sony Eveny thing seemed fine til I been for 3 days trying to get a ebook off the Sony site!

Have you checked at the Sony store to see if it's registered on your account? If you registered it, then it should be fine.

You'll need to download and run the Sony Library program. You should be able to sign in and look at your listed devices. Make sure you have the latest Sony Library downloaded, as the T1's needed the lastest version.

BUT then SHE would be able to order on my dime!

Just don't order anything through the Sony, only buy from the program on your computer. If you add a credit card to your account, she can't get to it from there. Neither can you order anything from her account.

So don't buy anything from the machine itself, through wifi, until you make sure to check the account through the Sony Library program to see if it's listed on your account for sure.

You can email them, as well. I had to remove several devices from mine, and there was no 'delete device' button. Sent in an email telling them which ones I wanted removed from my account and they did it for me.

So you could try emailing them now, and see if someone is working over the weekend. Just make sure you include the device's serial number so they can look it up.

Who removes a Guide??

Lol. I do. If I need a guide, it's because the item I need it for isnt' working. They're usually easily found on the internet, so I download them when needed to my main computer. So no need to keep a guide on an eReader.

Congrats on getting it fixed! Always nice to get things working.
