You all probably know the latest book comes out this week. And the author was featured in a Q&A in the New York Times Sunday magazine yesterday. She sounds so.......normal!!!!

I just went to her book signing at Barnes & Noble here in NYC... She is totally normal, and so nice.   She has a great sense of humor and was very entertaining.  :)

She said that her Sookie "companion" book is scheduled to come out next February.  YAY!

I was fairly disappointed in the last book and debating if I should spend the money on getting a hardcover or just wait until my PBS WL comes up.

Maybe some reviews on here will convince me one way or the other.

I just finished it.  What can I say, I'm not a very patient person.  I thought it was much better than the last one, but not as good as some of my favorites in the series.  But a big improvement, and worth the time/money, IMO.  I don't want to give anything away, but lately each book feels more like a snapshot of Sookie's life and less of a story arc, if that makes sense?  For that reason I really liked the prologue in this book, which sort of gets you up to speed on the boring parts of her life since the last book and moves more quickly into the heart of this story.  Hope you all get it soon and enjoy it!

So, this was not even close to one of my favorites in the series, buy I still enjoyed it. I will absolutely continue with the series, and still cant wait for the next one.

It was "okay" in my opinion. Like some have said, a bit better than the previous one. What I disliked the most was that I kept getting confused because I watch the TV show and it is COMPLETELY different, but that's my own fault.

I also feel like she spends a little too much time reminding us of what happened in previous books, for such short books. Some of them seem more like a novella than a novel.

I got a gift certificate to Borders for Mother's Day, and I just bought it!  I'm looking forward to reading it.

Danielle - I really want to watch the show but that is the only thing thats been stopping me! I am so worried that I will start to get them mixed up, or I will dislike the show and that will somehow mess with my feelings about the books... I dont know, I may give the show a try one day, but Im in no hurry I guess.

That's exactly what happened to me Melissa! I wish I would have waited until she was done with the books to watch the show.  While reading this latest book I kept finding myself saying, "Wait, that's not how he was turned..." or other things like that.  So many details that make the books play out like they do are done differently in the show, so they are very different.

I agree, the differences between the books and the show can get confusing.  But I actually enjoy both, so which one do I give up LOL?  Maybe I need to start taking notes on each so I can keep them separate in my head.  cool

I just cannot seem to get into this one like I did the earlier ones.  Perhaps I am just not in the mood for this right now - might be a good book to read this summer by the pool.

I've only watched the first episode and wasn't impressed.  I was afraid it'd mess up the books for me.  I've read and posted my copy.  Flew through it.  I had been disappointed in some of the earlier ones and felt this was back on track.

JMO - no she's with Eric.  Bill is a friend, someone who loves her but she still feels he betrayed her.  So she has that bit of mistrust .  Don't want to give it away.
