Okay.  Don't know if this topic has been discussed as yet, but I've been dying to talk about it.  How many have read the books and saw the series?  If so, here's my question ERIC or BILL?

After reading the books, I'm totally pro Eric, here's why.  It seems to me that Sookie and Eric have something way more.  Yes, Bill was her first lover, but that's where it begins and ends.  She has so many more "encounters" with Eric, much more behind them.  I think that the only people that vote for Bill are the ones that are hooked on the True Blood series, and that's normal, because in the series, it's all about her and Bill and it's such a great love story, so to speak.

THOUGHTS.

I completely agree. The TV series makes Bill out to be a hero. At least.... so far. While in the books there's so much more to Eric then there has been in the TV Series. I'm waiting to see is the TV Series catches up but based upon the books I'm for Eric all the way.

I LOVE Eric. I love the dynamic between the 2 of them. I can't stand Bill!! When he started having feelings for her he should have told her. I really hope she ends up with Eric.

I am hoping that the series will become more like the books. I enjoy it but I have to tell myself that it is a different Sookie. If I don't, I start yelling at the TV and DH thinks I'm crazy. LOL

I don't watch the tv series...I was afraid it would spoil the book series for me...it's one of my favorites.  I go for Eric though, he seems to be willing to go the extra mile for her where Bill wouldn't.

The series is good.  It's what actually got me started on the books.  Of course, the books are so much better and some of the characters are different.  It will be interesting to see what they do next season.  But it will be a huge disappointment if she doesn't end up with Eric.

Bill is so different in the series than in the books. So are some of the characters. So, they could be heading in a completely different direction. I'm curious as to how close and how different the series will be to the books.

One question is, tho... if Bill doesn't screw up in some big way in the tv series... how will they introduce some of her other "suitors"?

Well the series is based on book 1 -- and in book 1 Bill is a hero --we don't yet know all about him.  So things will probably change in future seasons.

That said -- I am also team Eric

Well, we know that somewhat of the series will be like the books, because if you recall, in one of the episodes with the bad vampires that come to Bill's house, Bill said something to them about "she" won't be happy, and the black vampire woman said "She" can blah blah blah.  Obviously they were talking about the Queen.

Also, Bill said to Eric that Sookie must be protected and Eric said "Now that sounds like an Edict, but it can't be an edict, because I would know about it."  And we all know that Eric doesn't know Bill was sent by the Queen to win Sookie over. So they're making little hints in the show about the Queen and that direction that the books took.

I've only watched I think the first 2 or 3 episodes. It's really hard for me because this is one of my fav series and so far I hate everything about the show. If I can seperate the 2 in my mind then I can watch it...but it's so hard lol

yeah Ashley -- I have to separate them in my head too.  It is my favorite book series, and while I like the HBO one, it is not my fav.

I am a fan of both Eric and Bill.  I know that Bill betrayed Sookie but it was "vampire politics" that forced him to do it.  Even though he made his move on her under false intentions I believe that he honestly loves her and regrets the betrayal.  I like how Bill remains a reliable friend to her even after they break up.  On the other hand I think Eric's character is more attractive and I think that they seem to communicate better than Bill and Sookie.  Eric and Sookie definitely have a different kind of chemistry, maybe more of a grown up chemistry due to her no longer being a virgin and have matured a bit since the beginning of the book series.

I enjoy watching the TV series but I like the books better.  I look forward to the new season of the show only because I read the whole series of books in two weeks and now I'm missing the characters etc.  I can't wait for the next book to come out in May!
