I love love, looooove True Blood. I haven't read the books. Does the show stay pretty faithful to the books or will I get something good from reading them? I can't remember which catalogue, but one is offering up the first 7 books for $22.00 in a box set. Are the books worth reading or will I get the story from the show?

I thought the 1st season and the 1st book pretty much paralled each other - minus the story line with Tara - she is more of a main character in the show.

Second season draws from snippets of the 2nd book - but has really branched off from the book in regards to certain story lines.

I'd recommend getting the books and reading them.

I'm a huge fan of the books.  And I was hestitant about the show.  But I have come to realize that they are following similiar story lines but feel quite different.  There is this lush visual feel to the series.  And there is this language and mannerism element to the books.  They don't feel like they are overlapping as much as running parallel.

I love these books -- I would recommend them highly!  The first series is pretty close, but some of the back stories are different.

I think I'll get them. They will make for good down time books while I'm in school

I cant remembr the first few books as well anymore but the show really branched off; the basic idea is the same but a lot more sex and caziness this season but I must say..the most rceent episode made me sniffle-when Goddrick met the sun. Def not like I remember from the books but a really great season.

I have the first 4 books in the Sookie Stackhouse Series

I will only send them to 1 person (if no takers in a couple days I will separate but multiple orders have priority)

Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, Bk 1) :: Charlaine Harris
Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, Bk 2) :: Charlaine Harris
Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, Bk 3) :: Charlaine Harris
Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse, Bk 4) :: Charlaine Harris

Please let me know if you want them. Thanks

I would definitely recommend reading the books.  They are addictive.  I read the first 8 books in less than 2 weeks.  Season 2 of True Blood sounds pretty different from the books, so I am really hesitant to watch the series, plus I think Anna Paquin is a bad choice for Sookie.

They seem really different than the show to me, but it's been awhile since I read them.

The books are LOTS less dark than the show. But they are really good.

I don't think that the show is very faithful to the books . Having said that I like them both and though they may not be going strickly by the books they still have that same kind of feel to me . But the books are really worth your time.

Does anone know which two books the story in Bite is between?  It is the story where Sookie meets the Queen of Louisiana and her half-demon Lawyer because they come to her house to tell her that her cousin Haley has died and left her everything.  Please PM me.  Many thanks.

I am really enjoying the books! I just finished #6, Definitely Dead, and that is the one that comes after the story in Bite. Will be starting #7 ASAP, plan to finish them all this coming week.

I've also started reading the show and it is enjoyable. It helps put a face to the character in the book. I've only watched the fiorst 4 episodes so far. They are much scarier than the books. I like them!

Anne,   I owe you a favor!  Thanks.   I mailed the books to my sister and she is excited to read them.  I am picky about reading series in order and wanted to tell her the right thing.   I just ordered the book Night's something and it has the story about the dancing couple in the book about the hotel that blows up.  Now I have it all straight for her.
