I notice there are other genre challenges here on PBS, and I was just wondering if there was a romance reading challenge here somewhere that I am missing.

I need an impetus to get off my lazy reading behind and clear off some of my shelves.

I don't know if there's a general romance challenge (I signed up for one early last year but don't remember which forum it was in but never got around to posting my updates) but a lot of us have personal reading challenges.

I seem to do better with personal challenges more than group ones for some reason.

I was just asking because I thought maybe a group effort to finish up some books on TBR Mountain would help.  But I could make up my own challenge, I guess.

If I don't read some of these series, I am going to go NUTS!

I'll bet someone will read your post and have an answer for you, Regina. Or someone would start a group challenge here in the forum. That might be a good thing as I'm so behind on my reading that that extra push would be a good thing.

romantic times has several challenges on their forums under games/challenges - I usually do the 'seasonal' one where there are 15 challenges to complete and you have 3 months - we're doing Winter now. I also signed up for some o ther challenges-one is 12 in 12 o something like that wher eyou come up with your own 12 categories and read 12 books in each. and a tbr challenge where you state your reading goal for the year - # of books you plan to read.

I think goodreads has some challenges too. there's also the weekly 'what are you reading this week thread' you can post in as you go through your goals!

Thanks, Susanna.  I think a challenge is the only way that I am actually going to read some of these books that have been hanging around for awhile.

I will check out their challenge and if it fits for me, I will do it.   If not, I guess I will have to create one of my own. smiley

Goodreads has a lot of romance themed groups that do reading challenges.

some of the groups I am in: Romance Readers Reading Challenges group, S.O.S. (serious overload of series groups), Romantic Suspense Group, The Challenge Factory, Nothing But Reading Challenges group, Historical Romance Group, Book Haven, The Book Addicts, Romance Lovers for the Challenge Impaired, Romance: Historical or Otherwise, Romance Forum Refugees.

Also D.G. (riahekans) does for credit challenge/games in the games forums.  If you PM she can add you to her PM list to notify you when a challenge is starting. They aren't usually genre specific but they're usually geared towards acquiring less books and reading from your current TBR.

Well it turns out that DG just started a challenge.  Here's the link http://www.paperbackswap.com/Out-Old-II-TBR-Reading/topic/254109/?ls=0#p5446641

I haven't looked at it yet myself yet.  I'm going there  now.

This challenge is looking for players: Multi Genre 30 Day Reading Challenge - Taking Signups

not just romance but most likely there'll be some sort of  catagory that romance fits in under the genre prizes.  Genre doesn't matter as far as the most books, most pts etc.., prizes.  Rules are easy to follow.

Totally off-topic, but Mary's avatar is on TV this evening - one of the funniest "Big Bang" episodes. Love that show.
