I owned this book when it first came out, and liked it enough to get it again and reread it. Tracy Kidder brings alive the intensity of development and includes enough simple explanations of technical things to give the reader insight into some of what makes these machines tick (and the folks that design/build 'em). Being a software developer, I can appreciate the hidden complexities of getting something made of metal and chip to perform the miracles that computers are and do.
