The South possesses an atmosphere and cultural quality that is recognizably its own, even though its geographic boundaries (generally the Southeast) may be somewhat fluid in definition. The area has fostered an immense amount of photographic activity, having to do, perhaps, with need to express a region's common themes and concerns. In any case, the exhibition is intended to raise questions.
