After hearing much about Barbara Brown Taylor's genius and reading some shorter articles she has written, I finally read one of her books. I was mostly underwhelmed. While her writing is splendid and beautifully crafted, her main thesis is plain and simple - that we do not speak about sin enough in our society and ignoring the topic will not make sin disappear. It was not that I did not like the book, it is just after hearing so much praise for Taylor, I expected more.
