Spotty
Author: H. A. Rey, Margret Rey
Tired of being treated differently by his family just because he is spotted and the other rabbits are white, Spotty sets out on his own to seek acceptance. This edition of the original 1940s classic, with its vintage pictures and optimistic ending, offers a story that still needs to be told.

I'd first heard of this book at a museum exhibit about the Reys. This book was commissioned by the American government after WW2 to be translated in German and distributed in Germany as part of the de-nazification of German children.

Spotty looks different then the rest of his family and this is a story about him looking for acceptance and community. This story is universal and can be applied to an endless number of situations, both for children/adults who are different and others who are confronted by someone not like themselves. This should be on every child's bookshelf.
