Author is very naive about the world. Prose is sorely lacking. Oh how I long for Paul Theroux; I've been spoiled and expect clever, insightful observations, maturity, and wonderful literary references. Nor did I find this book remotely funny. Naming all the animals you see in the nature reserve is not good writing.

It is a rather shallow book, not terribly well written or very interesting. Admittedly I did not read it all but skipped through it. But she doesn't tell you enough detail about the interesting places and people. She does convey the frustrations of traveling through some rough parts of the world.
