Two questions:

1.  I could have sworn there was a view somewhere that would tell me how many members ratings the blue star rating was based on, but now I can't find it, anyone?

2.  Why do some books have different blue star ratings on list pages than on their detail page?

Thanks!

no clue.....good questions though!

I don't know how you would be able to know how many people have rated the book because if you put your mouse over it, it lets you rate the book or change your rating.  no way to tell how many have rated it that I can tell.  There are some books that have never been rated.

the few books I looked at on my shelf had the same blue star rating on the shelf and in the description

Thank you for replying! ;)

It's driving me NUTS - I know I was able to either hover or click on something to see how many members had rated it (because it's far more meaningful if it's 5 stars after ratings by 37 members than 5 stars after ratings by 1...)

I've never been able to hover over it and see how many rated it, at least not that I remember and especially not now because all it lets me do is rate it or change my rating.  wonder if that was somewhere else on the description page?

I don't remember ever being able to see how many people rated it, either

Why do some books have different blue star ratings on list pages than on their detail page?

You are talking about the books on your shelf (maybe another member's shelf?) and a book may have a certain star rating. Then if you click on the book details, you get a different rating? It may be that on the bookshelf rating, it shows what THAT member rated it. Then when you click on the detail page, it gives an average of what ALL members who have rated that book. Maybe? I have no idea, just guessing here...lol

I don't remember ever seeing how many people rated a book, either--I know Amazon does have that feature, but don't recall it here.

I'm wondering if you are looking at a book on someone's shelf if the blue stars you see indicate that person's rating, and if you click on the details, you're getting the average rating of everyone who rated it?

Or maybe the rating on the detailed description of the book includes the rating for all versions of the book, and the rating you see next to an individual book is only the rating for that particular version/ISBN. Not sure. Sounds like a question for R&R.

Now I'm starting to think I'm crazy... ;)

Last week, I definitely was able to get some sort of view where it would say "3.7 stars based on reviews by 37 members".  I also joined swap a dvd and thought maybe I got the two confused, since the features are similar but different, but now I can't find it over there either...

My recommendation page says "whatever stars" based on the amount of books I've rated.  Not anyone else's.

Alright I found it.

But it's at swapadvd.com .  It'd be really great to have here too!  (over there it's on the search results screen when you hover)
