Jacquelyn Frank seems to be reaching with this last series. It's like she ran out of ideas and decided to combine two or three other story lines into one. It took a lot for me to become interested in this book and even then I had to force myself to finish it. Basically it's a Beauty & the Beast story. Nothing is left to guess and the climatic part is over in about a page and a half. Book one was much better!

This is the second story of The Gatherers, and not my favorite. Julian's story was more informative about what the gatherers truly are. If you have not read Hunting Julian, you will not understand the world they live in. And there is not much "set up" in this one. This story is solely about Kathryn saving Adrian....from himself. I enjoyed the love story between the two, but there just wasn't a "spark" in this one. Nice story overall, but not a keepsake book. This book just seemed to be a bridge to maybe a new world Frank is taking us to??? Hope so, she has quite an imagination. The worlds she creates are like nothing i have ever read. It is definitely NOT your usual paranormal romance.

I definitely enjoyed this book, but at the same time I wasn't very impressed with Adrian's charater. I love the world in which Frank has created for this series, but the love story was a bit strange in my opinion. I thought that it was a bit unrealistic for Kathryn to fall for Adrian. Besides that, this book was entertaining and I will read the next book. However, I am hoping it is a marked improvement from this one.
