Reading interviews with Stephen King as he talks about himself and his writing helps to dispel the notion that he is a depraved madman writing novels. Beahm does a remarkable job of presenting all aspects of King's life, including his family and their values. He describes the Victorian mansion which King and his wife, Tabitha, have lovingly restored. Interviews with King on such topics as censorship and banned books, as well as his comments about his own books, and interviews with critics present a definitive picture of this popular author. Several appendices list books by King; about King, his films and cassettes; and a buying guide for collectible books.
