Fifteen-year-old Jean is on vacation with her family when she meets Steve, the lead singer of a band playing at the hotel's bar. Despite their 10-year age difference, there is an instantaneous and undeniable attraction between them. Although they lead completely divergent lives -- Steve as a rock-and-roll singer who skyrockets to fame, and Jean as an ordinary student who becomes a nurse -- their intense love keeps bringing them back to one another. This book chronicles the ups and downs of their romantic relationship over a period of 35 years.

Menzel-Tinkey does a wonderful job of telling this story through the eyes of Jean, as she starts out as an innocent teen and eventually becomes a mature woman. The scenes between Jean and Steve are powerful and moving, and clearly demonstrate the love and passion the characters have for one another.
