This book is one of the most interesting studies in this area, a surprisingly readable reconstruction of a major craft of colonial America. Part I is Stiegel biograpy. Based slidly upon documentary evidence unearthed by the author. Part II covers everything frm the making of glass, the Wistarberg, the Jamestown factories, the Glass House farm, and other early glass manufacturing sites in the New World, to specific methods and materials. Part III contains photographs of more than 150 pitchers, glasses, mugs, sugar bowls and bottles.
