At age 90, Hagar Shipley, runs away from the nursing home in which she has been placed, and sets out to reexamine her past and seek independence and freedom. Cheers for this fiercely proud woman!

This book is a somber, brooding, introspective look at a proud and uncompromising woman in her nineties.
I found the book engaging and did not want to put it down. I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Wow! This is an amazing look at an older woman who is facing the last part of her life. She reflects on her life journey and her relationships. It blew me away, and I'm definitely going to read more of this author.

I haven't read this, I did pick it up, but it just languished on the bookshelf and I've decided to go ahead and post it!
From the back of the book: "In The Stone Angel, margaret Laurence has given us a portrait of a remarkable woman and her life-long journey towards self-understanding".
