This book is very interesting. She felt guilty because she came to love her captor. He returned that love and went against the ways of his people.

Unwilling to wed the man her Irish chieftain father has chosen, Fiona of Dunsheauuna hatches a plan. In the castle's dungeon is a captured Viking warrior. If she can heal him and then seduce him, her fate would be altered.

In his feverish mind, Dag Thorsson believes she is a fairy princess come to tend him and perhaps lead the way to Valhalla. When his brother raids the town in order to free Dag, he takes the healing "fairy" captive. Though Fiona is Dag's prisoner, he becomes her protector on the long journey to his homeland.

Though Dag's slave, Fiona is accorded certain small kindnesses that confuse her. She discovers that Dag is capable of kindness and gentleness. In a strange land she discovers courage and passion beyond her dreams.
