"My Story is an insider's tale written with remarkable frankness. As she looks back on those gilt-edged years, however, Sarah takes responsibility for 'the trail of destruction' that she left in her wake. Yes, there were external elements that brought her great hurt, but her greatest enemy was herself. Her own insecurities would propel her out of public favor and into shame and disfavor.
Ultimately, My Story, is a celebration. Sarah was a girl raised to seek approval, first and last. When thrust into the life of a public figure, she was twenty-six years old, unaware and unshaped, waiting to be molded. Only now has she finally emerged as a woman finally coming in consciousness. After teetering on the brink of self-destruction, she has found the inner power to pull herself back, then move ahead. In the end, her story is one of recovery; it is affirmative and inspirational."

Royal life isn't all that great, but it can be survived, and Sarah knows how to do it with class. She's a fun loving fighter, a true woman of character. You'll walk away from this book with all sorts of tips on how to get along with and most importantly win battles with the inlaws.

I enjoyed this book very much. Her story is one of sad beginnings, struggles finding love and acceptance, and finally personal growth and confidence. Don't we all want to see the underdog become victorious!

From the book's jacket notes:

"What is it like to be a princess?

"How many little girls have wondered this very thing? Few, of course, have ever learned the answer.

"In 'My Story,' The Duchess of York writes about what it was like to be a member of the most famous and most scrutinized family in the world: Britain's Royal Family. In a voice that is warm, strong and always rueful, she tells of the events that catapulted 'a country girl' into a fairy-tale existence, and about the dark forces - within both the Palace and herself - that made it impossible to sustain."

The New York Times Book Review, Joe Queenan
Like Sam Walton and Donald Trump before her, Ms. Ferguson has written a seminal primer on the psyche of the entrepreneur, bristling with homespun wisdom sure to be passed down from generation.... [A]nyone wishing to emulate Ms. Ferguson should bear these words in mind: "When you have touched the flames of hell, a branding iron is only a mild inconvenience."

Now I know about shopping, in any case. This is Fergie's effort to explain her situation as a Royal and the need and outcomes of her divorce. I rather liked it, actually.
