Takes a down-to-earth approach to decorating: Design isnt mysterious; its about tools, not rules. Teaches the basics on color, accessories, fabrics, proportion, and furniture. Tells you how to make the most of any space using her No-Nails 7-Step Approach to Getting a Roomy Feeling
The reason that I got the book: She shows how to cut through the miseries of choice and map out your own personal color scheme using her exclusive Color Charting System.
I LOVE this book! Lynette Jennings gives practical advice that is easy to apply to any room or home. She explains the basics of design, gives you the tools, and a gentle push to get you started on whatever project seemed more than you could handle. Plus, the color photos are wonderful!
I've been reading and collecting books on interior design for about 18 yrs. This is one of the definitive books on decorating, imho. I'd rate it second only to Lauri Ward's book, "Use What you Have Decorating."
Ms Jennings not only provides great photos, but tells you HOW to create great interiors in your own home. This is a book for you, if you dont want to just COPY what someone else has done, but want to learn how to do these things yourself with your own belongings and in your own style and taste. Of course, that means not having to spend money to go out and buy everything new.
Learn the decorating rules and then learn how to break the rules so as not to have a hodgepodge. Read Ward's books first and then this one.
Warm wishes always,
