As I was making my daily list of my place for books in my wishlist this morning, it occured to me what a funny habit this has become for me. Am I the only one that does this? I have 79? books on my wishlist and each morning, right after I get to work ( I get here early to make time for this) I log on to PBS and make a new list of where I am in line for the books and compare it to the day before. Than I stick it next to my computer (excited if the numbers went down, bummed if some went up a number) so it's ready for the next day. I also get very excited for "calendar day". I have around 10 calendars each year hung up between my office and home. The first of the month is a big day for me as I get to go around, change the month and look at a new picture. :D Anyone else have any strange habits? |

LOL Collette. Thats hilarious. I only check my WL status once a week and even that I thought I was being weird. Last Edited on: 6/6/08 12:26 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I would just like to figure out how to see where I am in line on my wishlisted items.....then I could become obsessive too! Jessica Oh and I love flipping calenders too! Last Edited on: 6/6/08 12:30 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Jessica, while you're looking at your WL, notice that each item has "wish date," then an exclamation point in a little gray circle, then "book type" across the bottom. Hold your cursor over the little exclamation point and let it hover there -- a little box will pop up with your position in line. :) I check my place all the time too. I don't write anything down though -- I usually remember my place for most of them (which is probably a weird and scary thing all by itself!). i don't keep a list, but i do check my WL probably every couple of days to see where i am in line for things. i can generally remember which stuff isn't moving, and i'm always excited when i see something get to #1. not that this means the book will be coming soon, but still. :) |

I check my WL every morning when a new book is issued. I've been watching Rachel Gibson's new book and I went from like number 55 to number 23 in about a week. |

I compulsively check all the threads I've posted on recently to see if anyone's commented on something I've said. When I'm out shopping I repeatedly check to make sure I have my cel and my car keyes and my wallet. I mean like every 5 minutes. I've been known to leave a store just to make sure the car doors are locked and then go back to shop more. I'll check my alarm several times before going to bed to make sure the time is right and the alarm time is set right and turned on even though I can see the little alarm on light. |

That wish list checking is the sort of thing I could totally see myself doing when I was younger. I do rush to log into PBS and rate every book after I've read it. I think subconsciously I want to read them *all*. :-) I'm a little OCD about checking that the door's locked, that I have my book before I go to the gym, that I haven't lost my wallet... I used to have a memory like a steel trap and it's going somewhat in middle age, so that might be part of it. |

I log into my reminder list every day or so and delete and add books. Sometimes I can't even remember why I put them there. |

Lately I've been getting into the Book Bazaar each morning to see what deals are being offered. It doesn't matter that I have plenty of books to read, plenty of credits for which I could order books on my wishlist, I still want to get deals! Also, I keep checking my TBR pile to see which books are wishlisted (currently 7) then start thinking which book I should read first so I can post it. I get so anxious when a book I have moves fast! I think I'll never finish it in time for it to get ordered. I almost never check my WL because I have a lot of early Mary Balogh stuff in there and in the time I've been a PBS member, I haven't moved one place. And I get inpatient with the new ones and I just buy them at Half. |

I think we all have a little OCD. I frequently check my alarm clock to make sure it's set and set at the right time. I can look in my purse see my car keys (fob) are in there and as soon as i get my car I check again (my car has a push to start button so I always need my fob on me). I double and triple check the doors and appliances if I'm the last one to leave.

Thanks Alexis....some of my numbers were depressing! I compulsively check to make sure the door is lock at night. I will even get up out of bed and go back and double check. I also check to make sure I have my car keys multiple times once I get out of the car....this is due to the fact that I habitually lock them in it though. Oh and I also triple check my alarm most nights. This is probably the weirdest thing I do...when I am saying my prayers at night if I don't say them very slowly so that I understand the significance of each sentence I make myself say them until I have...most of the time I fall asleep before I completely get through them though.... :(

Oh, here's a new one - I check the library site every few days to see if they've added any romances to the collection. |

Gosh!! I can certainly tell I live in the country. lol I know it's stupid but we never lock the house at night or any other time unless we go on a trip which is almost never. It's so good to be among other's that do quirky thing too. :D I also do my reminder list books (only those that I have on my bookshelf for trade) too to see how many copies there are in the system. Now that is depressing when you have Patterson, Grisham and Evanovich books like mine has. lol |

Oh Willa lol, I go to the libary, borrow like 20 books, end up reading not even half ( like 5 out of 20, since my TBR is so huge), renew them like 3 times( 3months) then return them... I do this every single time. Such waste too, someone else could've borrowed them, read them all and returned them in time. |

Oh, here's a new one - I check the library site every few days to see if they've added any romances to the collection. i kind of do that too. i use the 'new items' feature on the library system about once a week to see what's new in about 4 different categories. the smallest block of time it will show is 2 weeks, but i like to see things immediately. of course, i've usually got something requested as soon as it gets ordered and is in the system if it's a new book that's coming out - and things don't show up in the new items menu until they've actually arrived, so i hardly ever find something to request this way. i'm more likely to find a CD i want to try listening too than a book to borrow. though sometimes i see things and have to think 'dang it - i already bought that!' since they got it sometime after it came out. |

I too live in the country so I don't even know where the keys to our doors are. Definately a different lifestyle. The only habit I do have on the list is the need to eat one food at a time. I don't even do it conciously.., people do comment occasionally and I realized that not only do I do that but if I have a plate of food on my plate. I eat from one o'clock to 12 o'clock. I am not allowed my my husband and kids to touch the coffee pot, or the alarm clock. I always screw them up. I understand how it works in theory but I make the worst coffee in an automatic coffee pot it's embarassing, and alarm clocks are completely frustrating. If I get the a.m. p.m right for the current time...and the alarm time right then I don't like the lever over to the right notch to make it ring the next morning. I to get all crazy for deals on here too, but partly because I read series romance and there are too many of them to get requested off the shelves very quickly. I don't know why but I can hardly stand to read anything that takes me more than an hour and a half.., I will read book after book for hours but seldom books that take longer. As best as I can tell is I o'd on lit classes in college. I think I had three my junior or senior year.

I print out a copy of my WL every couple of months and keep track of where I am in line on it( I check daily). I also take it with me book shopping and to the library.

I always screw up the settings on the TV. We have a satellite box w/HDTV and TIVO. I don't even know how I do it but DH says I'm always changing settings some how. I guess I just mash the wrong buttons. |

I am so bad like that too, Tina... I keep my library books til the very last minute. I justify myself by saying that people can request the books if they really want them. :-( |

Speaking of library ... If I've renewed the maximum number of times - I may take it back and renew it on my son's card if no one is waiting for it.... I keep promising myself I'll read one from the library, one from my TBR pile, etc , etc in an orderly fashion but then something inevitably seems too good and I stray from the pattern -- Kind of like a new year's resolution that doesn't last a week. :) |

My worst problem is buying or ordering too many books. My TBR is huge (I'm talking like 70 books), but how many books to I have in the mail coming to me? FOUR...and I have five more that I've requested on top of that! Although I do spend far less time and money at the UBS since using this site.
