This book is important. Really Important. It illustrates in simple and profound terms the destruction that goes along with our desire for cheap energy. It is impossible not to feel the helpless/hopeless lives of these characters. That said, I didn't love this book. I am glad I read it but just did not love it.

The book has multiple narrators and, for me, the appreciation for the story varied according to the narrator. Some voices were clear and emotionally engaging. Others, I found confusing and could not wait to get through them. Still, read this book--it is important.
