Kansas City Star quote: A rich, complex crime novel

rich because of crooked cops taking money? complex because it skips around all over the place until you're confused exactly what story is being told and yes, crime is crime but this one was just a no-go from the git-go, page after page of descriptions from the top of the head to the tip of the toes and how many hairs in a moustache--one of the worst I've ever tried to get started on and finally laid it aside to pass on to someone else
