 nightmare of a heroine.

I didn't want to hijack Margaret's post so I'm making a new post. This description of a storyline has me intrigued, can anyone give me some suggestions of this type of book?

I mentioned that one, and I was thinking of books like Lord Perfect by Loretta Chase and The Bridal Season & So Enchanting by Connie Brockway.  Other good examples would be Bewitching and Dreaming by Jill Barnett, Delicious by Sherry Thomas, The Iron Rose by Marsha Canham (ok, a pirate book, but it has a similar theme:P), and Sins of a Duke by Suzanne Enoch.

Or for movies, "Bringing Up Baby."

Other stuffed shirt heroes, though not with that theme so much: It Happened One Autumn by Lisa Kleypas, A Perfect Bride by Samantha James

Marianne Stillings.  Damsel In This Dress,  Arousing Suspisions and Satisfaction.  Heroine is not necessary his worst idea of a woman but they it isn't love at first sight.  In fact in Damsel they don't like each other very much in the beginning.  He's a writer and she's a book critic who doesn't like his work and isn't afraid to give him a bad review.

Aint She Sweet - Susan Elizabeth Phillips - its a contemporary but falls within your interests perfectly. Sugar Beth happens to be one of my favorite heroines!

Man...I've had Lord Perfect in my RL for a while and it keeps popping up over and over...I think I'll have to pick it up soon. :)

The most recent book by Elizabeth Rolls fits that description - Lord Braybrook's Penniless Bride. I enjoyed it a lot, although my favorite by Rolls is still A Compromised Lady.
