This is my least favorite books in the Dark Materials series. The Golden Compass is really good, but the books just go downhill from there. I love Lyra's character because she was in the first book, but her character doesn't devolop much in this book. Will, another main character who is introduced in this book, is a twelve year old boy who talks and acts like he's about forty.

All in all, this is one of my LEAST favorite young adult fiction books of all time, which is ironic because I like the Golden Compass a lot.
