I've enjoyed the few books I've read in this series. Historical mysteries, set in Victorian London. I like the fact that the "secondary" main character was one of Florence Nightingale's nurses in the Crimean War.

Anne Perry's characters are rich and interesting as is her plot development. I enjoyed this book enough to begin ordering the rest of the Monk series as well as the Pitt series. I particularly enjoy her strong female characters (in both series) - how they negotiate the limitations of the era and push beyond them. Her Monk character is an interesting man, a strong but wounded soul seeking the truth. Highly recommended.
