This was a great non-fiction read, it was filled with interesting facts and stories. It was constantly engaging and I learned so much. If you're interested in how and why processed sugar is so toxic for us this is a great book to read. I would recommend it to anyone because it does NOT read like a text book, and still offers such great information without being boring. If you're interested in getting your health in check, this is the book for you. If you've suffered from an unidentifiable general malaise, you might be suffering from the "sugar blues", try kicking the sugar habit and seeing how much energy and life you get back.

Well, it wasn't what I expected. It was very enlightening. Gave a lot of history and health lessons. It certainly changed my impression on some products being offered to us. I think anyone who has a desire to have a healthy family or a long healthy life will appreciate this book.
We have a chance to quiet the little voice that we have a high percentage to discover we have diabetes; by the power of knowledge and understanding how our body reacts to refined sugar. I definitely recommend this book. Especially to mom who have a habit of "spoiling" their children with sweets. Be warned this author doesn't warn with smooth words but speaks from the heart. I was amazed, however, that he backed up a lot of his facts and comments from other books which he has in order in that back of his book. We can do a lot more research on our own if we choose.

I read this book years ago when my children were young. What I learned in it shocked me so that my kids from then on grew up on a sugar free diet! It wasn't that hard to do and we were very healthy! An eye openging, life changing book in the face of our sugar saturated diets!

LOVED this book! Even though it was written a while ago, it still applies. It changed the way I eat and look at ALL sugars. HIGHLY recommend

This is a eye opening personal account of how sugar - specifically the refinement of sugar - has nearly killed the author, and changed history. Once the author moves from his personal history, which is important as a baseline he then dives into the history of sugar itself which is fascinating and juicy stuff! He also goes into what refining sugar does to the body. He is out to save lives. He will tell you that from the beginning. This isn't a dry textbook read, it isn't a how to program exactly, but it is a refreshing look at something that has been able to get surprisingly quiet in the age of diabetes. Don't let the published date keep you from reading this book - it is still very relevant today.

a great read about the history of the sugar industry and the effects of sugar on the body. i'm sure many people think it's extreme, but i think there are a lot of goodpoints and the history is interesting as well.

I really appreciated this book. It was very eye opening. I needed information to convince myself to tame my sweet tooth and this definitely helped. This is a good read with lots of information not only about the effects of sugar on the body, but also the history of sugar consumption, which is at an all time high.
