Ok, here's an odd request. I'm doing a Reading Challenge, and one category is reading a book you chose because of the cover. Now, I can either cheat and just pick out a book I got for a different reason whose cover is also good, or ...

Since I'm so rural, I only visit an actual book store maybe 1x a month. I'm stumped on choosing a book for its cover! Even here on PBS, I mainly get books because they've been suggested, or are part of a series or by an author I like. I hardly even notice the cover online.

Any suggestions for books you picked up because the cover appealed to you?? That way, maybe I can look at the cover in the PBS listing and decide if it also appeals to me enough to buy the book!! THANKS! (yeah I know, I'm waaaay too literal!)

In historicals, I really like these types of covers:

In the Shadow of Midnight

The Bride Thief

and I've always liked this one:

That Scandalous Evening

In contemporaries, something like this:

Tangled Up In You

Match Me If You Can

And even though I don't really care for clenching couples covers, these have a certain visual appeal to them - In other words, they caught my eye when I first saw them, & I gave them a more careful inspection because my eyes were drawn to them:

Too Wicked To Tame  - all of Sophie Jordan's covers have that sort of look.  I really like the use of color with clothing & backgrounds.

And I know nothing about Deborah Raleigh, but I think this is sorta pretty:

Some Like It Sinful (Zebra Historical)

And just a pretty cover, I think:

Never a Lady

Other than that, one of my personal favorite covers is The Alphabet of Manliness but I don't think it's a book that your average romance reader would care to read:P

I got this one because of the cover: Mr Hyde's Assets by Sheridon Smythe 0505523566. Still haven't read it!

All of the covers for Charlaine Harris's Sooke Stackhouse books have always really appealed to me.

Robyn Carr's The Virgin River series.  One of the reasons I wanted to read these books is because of the covers.

I really like the cover of Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas. And I loved the cover a A Lady's Pleasure by Renee Bernard, but didn't actually like the book all that much.

I wasn't even thinking about those, but I like the way they did both of the Sherry Thomas covers.  They're very eye catching & kinda pretty to look at.

I actually like the cheesy bodice-ripper romance covers from the 80s, but only when I am at home.  I dont know, I guess they kinda help me visualize the H/H.  One of my pet peeves is when the author doesn't describe the hero's or the heroine's  appearance right away or at least withing the next 3 chapters... you have nothing to go by, and I've come across books like that, its annoying.

I remember buying anything with Fabio on the cover 10 years ago, do you remember him?  lol.... He was on all of Johanna Lindsey books, in fact, I still have those.  God, I so drooled over him...... then I saw  him on TV, all I can say is what was I thinking....

These days, I like the book covers from SEP ( they seem to go perfectly with the book themes), Rachel Gibson (these dont embarrass me in the subways) and Anna Campbell's ( Claiming the Courtesan and  Untouched, which just seem simply romanctic).

Virtually any book that has Nathan Kamp on it is buy-worthy, if for nothing other than the cover as he is just so gorgeous.  Here's a site to show what I mean:    http://ravensanctuary.blogspot.com/

Books I've gotten for the covers alone Sighs Matter .  Shoot, the other one I was thinking of doesn't show the "old" cover anymore.  And one other I can't think of the title.

I"m not much help, am I?

OK - I followed that title over to Amazon to get a better look at the cover - tell me that's not HIS hand on his chest?? When you click on the link it will take you to the larger front cover in the "online reader" part. http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0060734833/ref=sib_dp_pop_fc?ie=UTF8&p=S001#reader-link

I mean, that's a woman's hand, coming from behind him, right?? cuz it threw me...

Anyway, those are some seriously low, low slung jeans on his hunky torso. Scroll alll the way down. This book just made it to the top spot for my challenge... Thank you!

These poor men, being subjected to our scrutiny like they were just OBJECTS! LOL

I started reading Karen Marie Moning's Highlander books because of the covers. They kept catching my attention at the bookstore so I finally gave in and got one. I think it was The Dark Highlander that I tried first.

I think most or all of Julia Ross' books have a couple of editions with those pretty covers on them.  I love those too - even though a few of the books themselves are truly bad:P  Night of Sin for instance; beautiful cover, but the book... blech!  I have some of those in trade paperbacks, and I can't say that they're keepers, but I must like looking at them or something, because I seem to keep passing over them when I'm pulling out books to post on my shelf:P  Gonna have to work on that...

*ETA:  Oh LOL, Melinda!  I just looked at that Amazon link and almost peed myself laughing!  It's in the right spot for his hand, but I certainly hope it's hers:P  If not, I so gotta get the name of his manicurist:P

Loving Mercy I ordered this one because it came up when I logged on and I just liked the look of it!

Just Like Candy I got this one because I liked the look of it (don't hate me because I'm shallow) but didn't enjoy it
