I'm so tired of books with foul language and explicit sex.  I would love to hear a list of what your favorite good, clean romance books are. Please?

Thanks!

Have you read any Georgette Heyer? They're funny in spots, too, witty.

Mary Higgins Clark. A few of her characters have had or are having affairs but there's certainly no explicit sex.

Check Amazon for Christian Fiction, and there's a Christian Book Recommendations forum here - if that fits your situation. http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/forum.php?f=84

Go back to the classics: Jane Austen, for example. Just because you hated it in 9th grade doesn't mean you'll hate it now. Tastes change.

Mary Roberts Rinehart.

Grace Livingston Hill. Many of her books are available to read on your computer, iPhone, whatever, as public domain, so they would even be free. http://manybooks.net/authors/hillgrac.html

Hope this helps!

The Forgotten Garden, by Kate Morton

Shanghai Girls, by Lisa See (the love story is not the primary theme, but it's definitely in there)

I just finished Fortunate Harbor by Emilie Richards.  Her books have some romance, some sex (but not graphic) but the main emphasis is on the relationships.  She has several series as well as stand alone books.

According to All About Romance website, the following authors are classified as Kisses Only: Betty Neels, Nicole Burnham, Lisa Wingate, and Donna Simpson.

The same website classifies these authors as Subtle, meaning that there are kisses and touches but no overt, descriptive sex.  Pamela Morsi, LaVyrle Spencer, Debbie Macomber, and Deborah Smith. Traditional Regency authors who tend to write books with "Subtle" sensuality include Patricia Oliver and Karen Harbaugh.

That ought to keep you busy for awhile! :-)

I have really been enjoying the books of Mary Connealy.  I really find myself surprised that she writes so many interesting characters.  Her stories are not predictable.  People fall in love and 'do it', but no details.  Great kid characters and she has an interesting way of writing men characters who are imperfect and loveable.  She is an auto buy for me because the wish lists are so long.  She is considered a Christian author but I think anyone would appreciate her.

I just finished reading "A Countess Below Stairs." It was more of a Cinderella story than a romance, per se, but what Cinderella story can be without a prince? I found no objectionable content in it, other than the antagonists' views on eugenics.

Virgin River series and Grace Valley series by Robin Carr.  Loved them both.

I really like Cindy Miles. She writes very clean romance thats fairly light hearted.

This was one I enjoyed most

I love anything by Elizabeth Cadell. She goes back a ways, but her stories have held up well. They are primarily romance, but with exotic locations, a little mystery, and a dash of humor. Great combination!

I think you might also like Kingsolver's book Animal Dreams.  It is a romance and story about family.  I have recommended it to lots of teenagers because although there is a romance, and sex is mentioned but not explicit,  it is really about family.

if you don't mind 'faith based' the love inspired's are usually great;  personally I like the suspense - then you get a mystery w/ a clean romance.

Karen White is great. She has about 6 or 7 novels out. All have a romance entertwined with the main story. Emily Giffin's novels are like that as well but a little more "chick-lit" like. John Shors is pretty clean and his novels all take place overseas (I recommend Beneathe a Marble Sky). Denise Hunter is a Christian author that also writes secular books so it's a clean story/romance but not too preachy. Check out her Nantuket love stories. Good luck!

Another faith based option is the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson.

I love the love inspired series.  There are suspense books, contemporary romance, and historical.  Also, Debra White Smith has some good stories.  I also enjoy Debbie Macomber.  Will have to try some of the others on this list.
