Help!  I'm looking for some suggestions on well-written, accurate with great illustrations/photography non-fiction books for 4-8 years olds.  Mostly science and nature books that are written more as read-alouds.

I have several such books on insects and other arthropods - full of images - on my bookshelf.

The Best Book of Bugs - gone

Big Book of Bugs - gone

Insects - gone

The Real Thing! Stinkbugs and Other Bugs

Smithsonian Bug Hunter - gone

All in Like New or New condition.

The DK Eye Wonder books are good.

Here is a link to one.  http://www.paperbackswap.com/Eye-Wonder-Reptiles/book/0789485540/

Usborne books are good too.

Would agree with the Usborne and DK suggestions.  Those publishers in general in their kids books are good, colorful illustrations.

Usborne First Encyclopedia of .....  (different topics)

Usborne Beginners series (different topics) is especially good in K-1st

Rookie Read About Science series

Magic Schoolbus books ... fiction but with true science theme woven in, picture books and then chapter books

Science Stories series ... biographies of scientists for the younger set
