I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on what fiction books to read about English Royalty, such as the Windsors, the Tudors, or any others you may think interesting.  If you know of any non-fiction, I wouldn't mind knowing some of those as well.

Thanks!

Just about anything by Alison Weir or Philippa Gregory. You may want to check out the Historical Fiction Forum - there are PLENTY of ideas on there!

Jean Plaidy - she wrote many historical fiction novels about pretty much all the British kings & queens back to William the Conqueror.  In fact I have a couple left on my shelf  - I had posted a bunch of them a few weeks ago but most are already taken.

Kim,

Under "Discussion Forums" there is a forum for the Historical Fiction.   They have many great suggestions there.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I have several Philippa Gregory in my TBR, and I have just started trying to get all of Jean Plaidy's.  I am having a bit of trouble with hers though, because on fantasticfiction, it shows the older titles that are no longer in print.  So I am trying to figure out all the newer titles for them.

Thanks again!  And I will also check out the historical fiction forum as well.  Well, actually, I've been there already.  :)

Thanks Marilyn!  I have had When Christ and His Saints Slept on my wishlist for quite a long time and didn't even realize what it was about!  I will now need to add the rest of them.

Jean Plaidy!  I am just loving her Georgian Saga series!  (even though I don't have them all yet).  King George and his family were really messed up!

Try Susan Kay's "Legacy"-hist. fiction about Q. Elizabeth's life-one of my faves.

Carrolly Erickson usually writes nonfiction, but lately she's come out with some hist. fiction on some royalty as well-nothing on English Royalty that I know of-yet-but Marie Antionette, Tsarina Alexandra, and Empress Josephine so far.

I'm reading a book right now called "A Likeness" by Sonia Overall.  It's not directly about English royalty, but the main character is a painter living during QE's reign and wants to paint for royalty.  All through the book he meets up with some famous characters (including the queen) from that era.  I am just loving this book!

Oh-forgot my newest favorite hist. fiction author-Anne Easter Smith.  I've read 2 of her books and loved them, and have the 3rd coming for Christmas.  Check this author out!  ("A Rose For A Crown", "The King's Grace" are the 2 I've read.  They are both about English rule).

Carolly Erickson wrote a nonfiction series on the Tudors-"Great Harry", "Bloody Mary", and a book about Anne Boleyn, and yet another about QE.  This author is the one who turned me on to bios.

Margaret George has also written hist. fiction-one is about Mary, Queen Of Scots And The Isles, the other-"The Autobiography Of Henry VIII With Notes From His Fool, Wil Sommers"  Great reads!
