Sunil Sharma was born on April 7, 1966 at Jaipur in Rajasthan.

Sunil Sharma is basically a Law Graduate. After the completion of his studies he chose education as career, as it was his strong belief that education is the only mean to transform the Human Resource of any country. The society in 21st Century is going to become a knowledge based society and only those societies will lead the world which will harness the latest advances in technological and scientific field. As an Indian youth he dreamt, India to be a superpower, and it can be a superpower only when the huge population, which most of the economist consider a burden, could be converted into a boon, this could be done only when we are able to refine the Human Resource by giving them world class training and education.

On April 7, 1994, at his 28th birthday, he started the Gyanvihar project at Jaipur with famous Politician, Late Shree Suresh Sharma and earth Scientist Dr. Sudhanshu. At initial level the Gyan vihar was started in a very humble manner but within a short span of 15 years, under the able leadership of Sunil Sharma and Dr. Sudhanshu, Gyanvihar immerged as a top notch quality educational institute of India. Looking at the quality of education and the scale and scope of work being carried out at Gyan Vihar, the Rajasthan State Assembly passed an ACT in favor of Gyanvihar conferring it, the status of a State University by the name of Suresh Gyan Vihar University. The NBA, a statutory body under the Human resource ministry, which is the supreme body in country to evaluate the quality of education in the field of technical education under the Government of India, has also granted Accriditation to Gyanvihar university.

The Suresh Gyan Vihar University was counted among the top 3 Universities of country by the leading Indian Express Groups survey, this was considered a miracle in the history of Rajasthan state, as this was the first time that any Institute from the state got such honorable position on all India basis. This achievement could be possible only due to Sunil's vision and relentless efforts that within two decade today Gyanvihar university is being counted as one of the premier Universities of country and the pioneers in research oriented work, being the first research oriented university of the state. Looking to his efforts The BOM of University appointed Sunil Sharma, the Founder Chancellor of the University.
