This is not only the best historical fiction novel I've read, but it's also one the best books I've ever read! Penman completely flips the "standard" character of Richard III that many of us are familiar with. If you're a fan of historical fiction (and even if you're not), please give this book a shot. You won't regret it!

Sharon Kay Penman is my favorite historical fiction author. As one reviewer said, her novel is "rich in detail and research." She has a mastferful approach to making a story out of historical fact that keeps you turning the pages and looking for more!

If you want a book on the life of King Richard III this is it! Such wonderful descriptions of the era, I felt as if I was there experiencing each and every event. Sharon Kay Penman has always been one of my very favorite authors and she did not let me down on this one. If you like historical history and want to know more of Richard III this is the book for you. I would recommend anything by this author.
