A great, gutsy, down and dirty story of the early days when the West was settled. Wonderful ,resilient characters that evolve. Solid plot with lots of historically accurate info and detail about life, wagon trains, the role women played in the building of the west. Almost didn't repost this one.

I love stories about wagon trains as the pioneers travel to the west to make new homes. There are lots of hardships along the way, with many dangers and sometimes even death, but romance can be found in the most unexpected places. This book had it all. Great story.

This was one of the first books I ever read by Sandra Brown and remains my favorite. Great story, great characters. Just lovely.

I like most of Sandra Brown's romance novels but not this one. Frankly I had to quit half way through. The male character was so surly and unlikeable it was hard to take. I can't imagine what would make the guy act like a decent human being and I was tired of waiting. The female character had suffered a horrible childhood after her father died and her mother remarried and had brought her into a home where she was repeatedly beaten and raped. The story starts with a young girl in the woods alone, in labor, having a stillborn child, left for dead. Not exactly heart-warming material to start off and it didn't get any better. I did not care about what a gorgeous bod the man had and I was tired of the constant talk about the woman's big breasts. I just saw very little joy in this so-called romance and didn't want to further drag myself down so I quit.

good book. It starts off by pulling me in with wanting to know Lydia's secrets and once meeting Ross wanting to hear his secrets. Great Romance novel.
