Fascinating book. The medical explanations of ways that the body starts to break down were interesting but after a while a bit too much for me. Still on the whole I highly recommend this book. It's amazing how the human body can adapt and survive...or not. I also learned how to survive at sea if ever shipwrecked!

A fascinating look inside the world of extreme conditions, what happens to the body and how to survive told from the experience of an explorer/physician. I almost felt like this would have been a great college course! Would highly recommend this book.
