This was a good suspenseful book about killer bees and the efforts of a team of scientists to stop them.

The book begins with a family picnic. The family having an afternoon outing is attacked by bees and the parents killed. The children are stung but survive. Enter John Wood a scientist who is a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He reads the newspaper account of the incident and his early warning intution gives him an alert that perhaps this is something to be concerned with.
The book proceeds to explain the behavior of African bees and their spread. The scientists are trying to prevent a apocalyptic event with Nature and the bees taking over the United States.
The book has several things that make it interesting; a pretty good depiction of bee life, the suspense of will the scientists find why the bees are behaving as they are, and finally will human life in America become extinct.
A good read and a Movie version as well.

Now, with town after town falling under the devastating black cloud of bees, a crack team of scientists races desperately against time to fight an enemy they only partly comprehend...
