The Seatons draw their vibrant yet classic motifs from such diverse sources a medieval French tapestries, Moghul embroideries, Italian Renaissance frescoes, Turkish carpets, and illustrations from Victorian herbals. Mythological beasts encircled by swirling garlands cavort across pullovers, while vivid bouquets of tulips, orchids, and fleurs-de-lis explode on cardigans, and angels and cherubs frolic on vests. Jamie and Jessi Seaton started designing knitwear in 1978 and now show two collections a year. Their designs are frequently selected by the Design Collection, and they recently were invited to contribute six patterns to an exhibition cosponsored by Henri Bendel and the Cooper-Heweitt Museum in New York City. Jamie and Jessi Seaton live and work on a farm in South Wales.« less
