This book takes you back to a time where life was slower, and The American south was traditional, but repressed. The music is evocative, keeping you humming along, although the story is disturbing and culminates in tragedy.
It started off great. I loved the descriptions and enjoyed the story before it started to get "dark". The songs and cars...fun to read about.
If you enjoy reading about the 50's, read a better book...try Fannie Flagg. Better yet, re-read The Outsiders.
This was dark and twisted.
