Rosemary Rogers was a pioneer of erotic romance, and this title was a sensation when it was released in 1974. It is the story of two wild, untamed souls who hurt each other badly before they can come to love. A little dated, and full of adventure with very hot love scenes in the "she said no but means yes," mode. ENTERTAINING.

A truly epic saga; sets the stage for the sequels, of course. Very intense.

Ah, I think its called Stockholm Syndrome!
IF you want a tragic epic with a somewhat happy ennding this book is for you.
IF you are looking for a cozy, feel good read...look elsewhere.
The writing was great and the idea is intriguing but the characters fell short for me and i think Steve is a evil man that can't seem to keep it in his pants!

"Political intrigue, plot twists, overwhelming secondary characters and enemies at every turn . . . Ms. Rogers has staying power."

I couldn't finish this book. Just didn't hold my interest. Historical romance just isn't for me.
