I'm currently a Standard member, but am not planning on renewing my Standard Membership. I know that if I go ALC my WL will be reduced to 100 books. What happens to my WL if I switch to a Limited Membership?

If PBS follows the sames rules as when they started memberships, nothing should happen to your wish list. If you go limited and your current wish list is over 200, you will be unable to add additional books until it is under 200. From last year's notices from PBS, nothing happens to existing list. You should ask the librarian to verify.

I found this in the HC:

If you ARE currently enrolled in an Annual Membership:

  • When your Annual Membership expires, your membership status will become A la Carte if you don't re-enroll.
  • Note: your Wish List will be cut to 100 items (the most recently-added wishes will be removed) if your Annual Membership expires and you continue as an A la Carte member.

I can't find anything about what happens if you switch from Standard to Limited. I thought it would be like last year, where you couldn't add anything new until your WL got down to the new limit, but then I was tipped off about the reduction by a comment someone made in another thread.

So much unncessary drama. No need for memberships. Just sell swap fees, individually@ $0.49, 30 for $12, or annual unlimited for $20. What a poor and unnecessarily devisive business plan. If PBS survives if will be despite such poor decisions.

I read in a forum A la Carte keeps their wl but you cannot add more until you have less than one hundred slots on your Wish list.

I would like to know for certain if I need to delete 145 things on my wish list. Maybe I'll put them on hold and see what happens.

Dear Sheryl,

Thanks for writing in. We're happy to help with this!

(1) Stepping down from Standard to Limited Membership will cause your Wish List to be cut to 200 items - the most recently-added Wishes after #200 will be moved to your Reminder List

(2) Yes, you would have 68 Free Swaps in that scenario.

We hope this information is helpful. Have a great day!

Two questions that I can't seem to find an answer to in the Help Center.

1. I'm currently a Standard Member. If I decide to re-enroll, but as a Limited Member, what happens to my Wish List?

2. Same scenario--do I get the 30 free swaps associated with the Limited Membership along with the 38 free swaps I accrued as a Standard Member, for a total of 68 free swaps?
