I want several copies of the same book to use in my classroom.  There's plenty of copies available, but the system won't let me order a second one until the first one is marked mailed.  I don't want to have to wait 5-10 days between each order, since that could take several months to get the 8 copies that I need.  Is there any way around this?

If you would like, you can PM me your address and the book you want, and buddy me a credit. I will order the book, too and have it sent to you.

I have seen people do this in the Bazaar before .... I don' think there is any way that you can get the copies thru the system, except one-by-one.

Updated: BOOK ORDERED. will let you know when it gets accepted/mailed.

Updated: BOOK MAILED.

I'll be happy to order one also. Give me your name and address, and I'll have the sender use the alternate address box.

Thanks Sara, Sherry, Mary, Sherry, Pat, Wendy, Tiffany, and Karyn!  That's all 8 copies that I need.  You ladies are wonderful!

(My students may not thank you, though, when Mrs. S. assigns them yet another book report.)

What book is it that you are assigning? Now I'm interested because I still remember all the book reports I did.

I had a similar situation... needed more than one copy of a book.

I contacted help & they ordered the additional copies in my name.

They were considering allowing that .... maybe they just need reminding that some people want that option occasionally.

The book is 'The Millionaire Next Door.'  I'm using it in a consumer/business math class that I teach to high school juniors and seniors.  The book makes a convincing argument that most truly wealthy people don't live a high consumption life-style.  I'm hoping to teach my students that reasonable frugality is the way to live.  PBS is a great example of a frugal way to get my students copies of the book, so I can show them I practice what I (preach) teach!

The copy I ordered was marked mailed on 11/25/2009.  Please let me know when you receive it so I can say it arrived and the person can get their credit.  Thanks!

This is going incredibly smoothly.  I have 5 out of the 8 copies so far--4 came on Friday, 1 on Saturday.  Two others are in the mail, and the eighth rolled over, so it's taking a bit longer.  All the copies I've received so far have been in very good condition, too.  I'll let the remaining requestors know when their books come in.  I may be assigning this book mid-December instead of waiting until January.  Yes, I'm one of those horribly mean teachers who assigns work over Christmas break.

You are all beautiful, intelligent, and charming.:)

Very cool, people. One of the many reasons why I love this place.

I'm now at 7 out of 8--only waiting for the one that rolled over.  The funny thing is, the one that I ordered first (not one of the 8), has still not come.

I got the final copy today.  Wow, that was fast!  I can start distributing the copies as an early Christmas present. :D

Thanks again to all the incredibly lovely ladies that helped!

This is a great concept to teach to kids these days, because I don't think they see it in real life very often.  I grew up that way.  I had the cheapest parents God ever put on this earth, and I'm thankful for it.  They always said "Count your pennies and your dollars will take care of themselves."  Highly consumptive people usually do not end up rich for very long.  I think it's mostly "celebrity" rich people who live that way.  The ruins of  popular celebrity estates number in the high numbers.  Got lots of money - lost a lot more.
