This is a wonderful historical fiction by Elizabeth Goudge. She has a way of bringing you right into the story. Her characters are alive and her descriptions are exquisite. It is a great book when you know you will have a long time to read, a trip, a cruise, etc. Still, at the end you will wish that it was longer. That is how I feel with all of her books.
