It's hard for a kid to have a drunk for a father. Daniel North used to have one; had one until that day thirteen years ago when his father Cal settled him into the dentist's chair, kissed him on the mouth and walked out of his life. So when Daniel, now an actor living in London, hears that Cal wants to re-enter his life, he agrees with some reluctance. Their reunion doesn't go as planned, however; and Daniel soon finds himsel traveling to drought-gripped Arizona, where he discovers that he has a step-mother his own age, a troubled half-brother, and an appointment to keep beyond the barricades of the Salt Nation Indian Reservation....
