This is a wonderful true story about a young woman who began her teaching career in the backwoods of Alaska. I highly recommend it.

This is a wonderful book. I couldn't put it down. Proof that true stories are the most exciting and inspiring!

I found this book difficult to read, not because it is poorly written but because the story is claimed as a true one. As a researcher engaged in a project about the Fortymile and who knows the Purdy family, I can say that Tisha is a highly fictionalized account of Anne Hobbs' first year in Alaska in a town called Chicken. Read it and enjoy it as an adventurous love story but don't believe it and certainly don't try to do any genealogical or geographical research based on it.
