Why do people make things so complicated? I just received this PM:

Hello! I just wanted to let u know the condition of the book to make sure you still want it. The book its in. really good condition except I read it in the pool so thirty pages in. the middle look a little wrinkly at the edges. There is no water stains though .i am going to mark it mailed so they don't cancel the request. I will wait to hear from u before I mail it. Thank u!

I really don't want a non-postable non WL book. I told her to please ask the administrators to cancel the transaction so I don't have to wait for it to time out. This is my only option, right? It's not a huge deal, just annoying.

I do not believe that the book should have posted at all.  It clearly states that unpostable books are not to be posted in the rules and she appears to know that water damaged books are unpostable.  Definitely contact TPTB and copy her post to you so they can read it.  They might reiterate the rules to her.  She should have posted this book in the Book Bazaar.

Honestly, I don't think she understood. The main problem is that it is marked mailed, therefore I will have to wait a month before it rolls over. I just want to expedite this.

Yes, the sender needs to request the transaction be cancelled. TPTB only cancel mailed orders when the sender requests it, not the book requestor.

Wrong in so many ways.  The book is unpostable and should never have been posted FIFO.  The sender apparently knows this and attempted to circumvent possible cancallation by marking the book mailed.  Once marked mailed, the sender herself can no longer cancel the transaction.  At this point, you are hung out do dry for a month unless the sender requests an PBS cancellation.

Give her 2 or 3 days, and if she has not done so you could try contacting TPTB with the transaction number.  With access to her e-mail, they might consider cancelling for you (wouldn't hurt to ask, and gets the sender on their 'may be a bad swapper' radar).

If it's not a WL book and you have another credit, just go ahead and order another copy.

As for the one that's been marked mailed, if it arrives, mark it RWAP.  Save the PMs and TPTB will likely give your credit back if the sender doesn't.

They are pretty firm on the "sender must be the one to request a cancellation" rule. The first time I tried it, I had PMs, too, but they will not do it unless the sender requests it. Otherwise, time takes care of it. That's why they just let it go.

I'm Gold Key, so that will likely work best. Thanks, guys!

And of course it was the only copy in the system. No word from either the sender or TPTB. So irritating.

I was afraid of that Sarah.  But no less frustrating when a sender deliberately and knowingly hangs you out to dry waiting for the (unwanted) book to arrive or transaction time-out/go-lost.

Honestly, I would prefer that she had just sent it, then I could mark it RWAP and then at least things would be moving. Grumble grumble firstworldproblem grumble grumble.

The Team will probably contact the other member to prompt them to get the transaction cancelled, but if it is clear in a PM that they have not sent the book, the Tean=m may cancel the transaction. They are strict about the sender cancelling when it is possible a book may have been sent. If a book hasn't been sent I have seen them cancel the transaction before.
