I turned tags back on to help clean them up and I see so many books with the tag "blt" in this process.  Is this something valid that I should know, as it seems to be applied to almost 4,000 books on here (or should I be removing it with all the irrelevant ones)?  If so, what does it mean?

I'm glad you asked!  I've also been curious about that tag.

Katie,

That is almost certainly a personal tag, not an inappropriate tag. Inappropriate tags are ones that describe a particular book., personal tags are ok, though some do cause a bit of a mystery for the rest of us. There is a lot of good info in the Help Center regarding what does and what does not constitute an inappropriate tag; http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/search.php?terms=tags

Sounds like a personal tag to me too... probably from someone quite active in terms of books, if not forum posts.

I'm guessing that "bit" is someone's initials.

I'd also guess that it is a Personal Tag and TOTALLY allowed. Note..the rules are specific as to "inappropriate"  it does not state irrelevant because what you might think is irrelevant to me would be totally relevant.

Please leave "irrelevant" tags alone. Only "inappropriate" tags should be marked to be removed.

I was curious enough about what BLT means that I sent a PM to the member to ask her.  And, I do agree with the other posts, that unless the tag is misleading (a "romance" tag on an economics book or "great for kids" on an erotic novel), a tag is just fine whether it means something to me personally or not.

Duh...it stands for "Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato."  Obviously someone plans to read those books at lunchtime :p

They'd better watch for the mayo - one drop and those books won't be postable!  : )
