I tried to tag my some of my RL last night, and it didn't work - hit save, but none stayed it kept taking me back to page 1. Today I received 2 books in the mail and wanted to tag them as ARCs, selected that from the list, hit save, and those didn't stay either.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I haven't tried the tags lately but I was thinking that if the two books you received were ARC's, and you tag them as such, that tag is associated with that book everywhere in the system. Wouldn't using a personal note be more of what you wanted to do?

You are right for the ARCs, Lori - that's what I'll do with those. Someone wanted to see my RL to post to me, and I was trying to tag to make a list on those, but they just disappeared. I'll try again in a day or two, sometimes things inexplicably work or don't for bit. :-)

Jodi - I don't use it myself but I think that you can make your RL viewable by others now at certain membership levels. I could be entirely wrong about this.....

Jodi,
ARCs are not swappable here per PBS rules. If you received ARCs they should have been RWAP'ed when marking them received.

The potential problem I see with tagging these books as ARC is that ARC books often, but not always, have the same ISBN as the final printed edition. Thus, tagging the ISBNs as ARC books will make it look like all books with that ISBN are ARC rather than only your particular copy, and this could be misleading.

I like to use tags for my own lists using a 'code' I've made up that makes sense to me. It's helpful since I can then easily pull and work with a list of only the books using that tag. Club tags are fine, but if there are books you don't want using them there's no way to change that. So rather than using the tag 'ARC', Jodi could use her initials + ARC or something like that, e.g. '***-arc' or 'arc/***,' so it would be distinctive yet work for her use.

I discovered the personal tags have a useful function of making a pile for your own purpose.

When you click "My Tags" you can see only the titles you tagged.  At first I did not know there were personal tags, I thought they were all group tags.

Click on the number under "Uses" you can see all the books tagged by anyone who used the tag.

I have seen all kinds tags like:  maybe, I have this,  cannot find, etc.   I think these are meant to be personal but also inappropriate.  I don't give existing tags too much thought. So I'm not really bothered if someone tags a book "did not finish".
