Excellant book, lots of good ways of coping with life
If you can't afford psychotherapy, or don't have the time, then this is the book for you. The author is an experienced therapist with the gift of explaining things very clearly. She presents different concepts and then illustrates them with anecdotes from her many years as a therapist, which makes it very easy to "see yourself" and relate what she's discussing to your life. The book mainly deals with perceptions - how we see the world, how we think the world sees us, and the fact that things are not always what they seem. A hostile coworker may not hate you, but may suffer hardships in his/her personal life. You may think everyone judges you harshly for something, and the truth is most people don't even notice. This book has allowed me to view the world and people with more understanding and less reactivity.
