Well, I know I'm in the minority with my review, but I really didn't like the book that much. I read it in 2 days. I felt that I needed to hurry to the end to see how many of the tragedies could be put to right in the end. The author is very effective at painting vivid pictures, but so many of them were heart-wrenching... I couldn't wait to finish reading this book.

The Tale of Despereaux is a fantastic book. I've read this book several times and suggest to everyone looking for a good book. Children and Adults will fall in love with the tiny mouse with huge ears!

By the author, Kate DiCamillo, who also wrote "Because of Winn-Dixie", this is a delightful tale of a mouse named Chiaroscuro, a princess, some soup and a spool of thread. Illustrations are exquisite.
