Paperback swap needs a rating symbol for "Didn't finish it!". That's usually what I mean when I rate a book "Didn't like it". Studs Terkel is a Pulitzer Prize winner, and I really did enjoy "Working" and "The Good War", but as I get older I'm less inclined to hang on to the bitter end when I think the author is just beating the same drum over and over. This book differs from his others in that it's more autobiographical, but before long he's back into his usual themes - we all deplore racial and religious prejudice, but do we really need to hear about it in everything an author writes? As I get older, I'm also less tolerant of preachiness....
