Good, but not the best in the series. After reading about Tess and Annabel - it was hard for me to actually like Imogen. But I can't wait for Josie's story.

When I first started reading this series, I couldn't believe that the author was going to pair up Imogene with Rafe. I did not like her and it took awhile for me to warm up to her. But in reading it saw that she is exactly the type of woman that Rafe needed. I enjoyed their banter... I enjoyed their arguments. They are literally perfect for each other. Having read all of the sisters' stories, this is my favorite.

Not my cup of tea I think. It just has all the plot gags that I hate: mistaken identity, leads who can't make up their mind, etc... I actually read all the other books in the series but only got halfway through the book. Ironically I loved the interactions and banter between Imogen and Rafe, but it wasn't enough to carry the book. Too much like one of Shakespeare's romantic comedies.

I have very much enjoyed this series and Rafe is indeed my favorite character in the series. I just love him . . . he caught my heart back in the beginning of the series when he first stood in the nursery showing off the rocking horses he had purchased for the little lasses that we're now his wards. That said, I didn't like Rafe's story quite as much as the previous two books although he still remains my favorite hero of the series so far. As a stand-alone book I'm not sure how much I would have enjoyed this story as part of the series I thought it was good (not great).

I can't wait to start the next one . . . happy reading!

Imogen, Lady Maitland, has decided to dance on the wild side. After all, she's in the delicious position of being able to take a lover. A discreet male who knows just when to leave in the morning.
But Lady Maitland is still under the watchful eye of her former guardian, the wildly untamed Rafe, the Duke of Holbrook. He believes she is still in need of a "watchdog." She laughs at the idea that someone so insufferably lazy and devoted to drink can demand that she behave with propriety.
It's Rafe's long-lost brother, a man who looks precisely like the duke but with none of his degenerate edge, who interests Imogen. To Imogen, he's the shadow duke ... The man who really should hold the title. But when Imogen agrees to accompany Gabe to a masquerade ... whose masked eyes watch her with that intense look of desire? Who exactly is she dancing with? The duke or the shadowduke? Rafe ... or Gabe?
-- In writing this blurb, I almost want to reread this romance! --

I like this author a lot, but this book's hero is a real stand out. I am dazzled that a romance author so bravely and sympathetically navigates the issue of alcoholism.

Rafe is the best hero of the Essex Sisters. He has problems but he overcomes them to become the man that Imogene needs.

This is Imogen's story, four books the stories of the orphaned Essex sisters and how they wrap their guardian around their fingers and find passion and love. Great romp.

This is an intriging story of a confused lady who doesn't see love right in front of her. Great dialogue between three sisters in olde Scotland, lots of fun.

This book is the third in the "Sister" series. I loved reading a book all about Rafe.

As she clashes with the controlling, brutish Rafe, Imogen believes she is uninterested, but helping Rafe through painful alcohol detox helps spark the attraction between them. When Imogen meets Rafe's illegitimate half-brother, Gabe Spenser, however, she becomes determined to pursue an illicit affair with Gabe; soon, Rafe is impersonating Gabecomplete with a fake mustachein a scandalous nighttime outing with Imogen that pushes them to the edge of temptation and forces Rafe to seriously consider the delicate proposition of seducing his own ward. Good story, but I really have a problem with books that have been poorly edited. Several of the character names were swapped or changed from chapter to chapter.

Not my favorite of the series, Kiss me Annabel was better. However, sparks do fly between Imogen and Rafe. The story does meander somewhat but has some redeeming features. It was good to catch up with some of the couples from previous books by Eloisa James.

This is her latest. And she is always so witty and funny, as well as full of romance and intrigue.

Perhaps her most serious Regency romance, but still has the happy ending

This started off with a *lot* to recall (past characters) and new storylines being introduced, but *was* a very good read! And let me say, how happy I am that *someone* FINALLY found love! =)

I really loved this book. It was so nice to see Rafe get his romance and he and Imogen both were such well developed characters in Eloisa James previous works.

I usually don't read these genre of books but a friend recommended it to me and I "absolutely loved" this book. As a matter of fact I have read the first 3 books to this series and I am on the last one with the last sister.
I give this whole series a 5-star rating!!
